About the opportunity: Contract 15-months

 

The Learning Experience and Instructional Designer will be responsible in designing and developing engaging learning experiences and compelling course content. With direction from the Manager – Retail and Learning Strategies, this position will be responsible in facilitating learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner.

 

What you’re responsible for:

  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention
  • Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs
  • Identify instructional end goals and create content that matches them
  • Design instructional user interface for LMS to provide a seamless learning experience and increase learner completion rates
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
  • Use gamification and storytelling to enhance learner engagement
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)
  • Use course authoring tools to create dynamic and interactive learning
  • Decide on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders
  • Acts as the design consultant for members of the learning and development team, to make sure all learning experiences conform to the proper design and learning concepts

To be successful:

  • Demonstrate a superior command of English language, with advanced proficiency in written and verbal communication
  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models, as well as organizational change management expertise
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • Excellent knowledge of sales processes and skills
  • Experience in the wireless or electronics/technology industry is an asset
  • Strong working proficiency in course authoring tools, such as Articulate Rise, Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, etc. and at least one Learning Management System
  • Strong working proficiency in Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Strong working proficiency in Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel and PowerPoint is required
  • Strong working proficiency in Webex, MS Teams, and other online training vehicles
  • Experience with video creation considered an asset
  • Must provide a portfolio showcasing examples of your work

To join our team:

  • Three+ years’ proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology
  • A portfolio of work
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related fields, such as education, organizational development, human resources, marketing, business administration, communications, etc. is an asset
  • Three+ years’ experience working in training delivery, teaching, coaching and/or facilitation
  • Must possess the ability to proactively build strong relationships within a diverse organization
  • Must possess exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple ongoing priorities
  • Superior organizational and planning skills are required
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral in English (Bilingual is an asset)

The salary range for this role is $80k to $90k, with 10% bi-annual bonus.
